Paul Kirvan, FBCI, CISA, Senior Consultant with KETCHConsulting, has over 25 years experience in all aspects of business continuity, disaster recovery and IT auditing. Mr. Kirvan has been actively involved in the business continuity profession through his association with the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), in which he is currently a member of the Global Membership Council and Founding Board Member and Secretary of the BCI USA Chapter. Previously he served as a member of the global board of the BCI, and has served in many BCI activities as well as spoken at BCI conferences and published articles in the BCI magazine Continuity

 

Mr. Kirvan has completed numerous business continuity and technology disaster recovery projects, ranging from assesments and readiness audits to compliance audits for ISO/IEC 22301/22313, SSAE-16 audits, business impact analyses, risk analyses, technology disaster recovery tests, training programs and plan development and documentation. He has provided guidance to many organizations on the development of business continuity management systems (BCMS).

 

Mr. Kirvan has also been published extensively in the business continuity profession. Currently he is a regular contributor to TechTarget ‘s (www.techtarget.com) web site www.searchdisasterrecovery.com where he has had over 130 articles published. Mr Kirvan has also edited two industry mnagazines: Contingency Planning & Management and Survive! North American Edition. He also edited the unique CPM Dictionary, which compiled terminology in business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency management and information security.

 

He has provided business continuity advisory services to many different market segments, including telecommunications, e.g. NJ Bell and Western Union, banking and finance, government, insurance, , information technology, healthcare, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, utilities and construction.

 

Previously Mr. Kirvan was Vice President with Marsh & McLennan’s Global Risk Management practice, where he completed business continuity, enterprise risk management and governance engagements, and Senior Manager with Prevalent Networks LLC, an information security management firm, where he completed various security and governance audit engagements and also launched the firm’s Business Continuity Advisory Services practice. 

 

Mr. Kirvan is Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (FBCI), and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He is a member of the Association of Contingency Planners (ACP) and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, and was recipient of the 2001 Industry Achievement Award from the International Disaster Recovery Association (IDRA).
